SCAM ALERT: Fraudulent content impersonating IBL and its Group CEO Arnaud Lagesse

02/09/2026

IBL has identified several fraudulent images and videos circulating on social media that misuse the IBL name and logo and feature AI-generated representations of its Group CEO, Arnaud Lagesse. These videos falsely suggest that IBL or its Group CEO is promoting investment opportunities and seek to persuade members of the public to invest money in fraudulent schemes.

IBL confirms that these images and videos are fake. Neither IBL nor its Group CEO has any connection with, or has endorsed, the schemes being promoted.

Neither IBL nor its Group CEO requests investments, payments, personal information or banking details through unsolicited social media videos, direct messages or unofficial online platforms.

One of these fraudulent videos also refers to the Bank of Mauritius. In a separate official scam alert issued on 29 August 2026, the Bank warned the public against AI-generated social media content promoting a fraudulent investment scheme and falsely claiming the endorsement of the Bank and commercial banks operating in Mauritius. The official alert is available here: https://www.bom.mu/financial-stability/supervision/scam-alerts/scam-alert-social-media-post-pertaining-investment-scheme

Members of the public are strongly advised:

  • Not to click on links or visit websites promoted through these videos.
  • Not to transfer money or disclose personal or banking information.
  • Not to repost or otherwise amplify the fraudulent content, but to report it directly through the relevant social media platform.
  • To verify any investment-related communication purportedly issued or endorsed by IBL through the Group’s official website and social media pages.

Anyone who may have transferred money or disclosed sensitive information should report the matter immediately to the Police and contact their bank or financial institution.

IBL has reported the identified content many times to the relevant authorities and social media platforms. IBL thanks members of the public for their vigilance.
